Projects
Flânerie and Dream-Space
The site also documents surrealist activities aiming to capture the dream-life lurking behind the 21st century urban experience. It includes complete projects - such as the irrational embellishment and mapping of Alsdorf, Salford's 'dream village' - alongside a number of smaller projects.
Surrealism & Extended Prose
The site also documents examples of surrealist prose designed to represent the strategies available to the practitioner to maintain a permanent state of dérèglement, in which form and genre are presented as materials rather than as principles, inviting a syncretic and chaosmotic approach.
Text, Image and Synthesis
The site presents examples of various attempts to enact a synthesis of text and image in new and surrealist-transformative modes. It stages encounters between film, photography and textual genres with the intention of examining the ways in which new modes of expression may emerge.
“I have always been amazed at the way an ordinary observer lends so much more credence and attaches so much more importance to waking events than to those occurring in dreams.”
André Breton
ABOUT US
The Everyday Marvellous is an exhibition space for writers and artists working with methods which may be loosely described as avant-garde, with a particular emphasis on Surrealism.
